The Seyfried Laboratory
Welcome to the Seyfried lab webpage! Research in the Seyfried lab involves the application of state-of-the-art mass spectrometric techniques to analyze, identify, and characterize proteins and protein post-translational modifications that underlie neurodegenerative diseases.
Work in the Seyfried lab is currently focused on the development of mass spectrometry based techniques for: (1) the high throughput quantitative analysis of proteins from complex biological samples including post-mortem human brain tissue (2) Identification and quantification of protein post-translational modifications including, ubiquitination, phosphorylation, methylation and aceytlation (3) Proteomic biomarker discovery in cerebral spinal fluid, blood and platelets in Alzheimer's Disease and other related neurodegenerative disorders.
Researchers in Dr. Seyfried's lab actively collaborate with other Emory investigators to help them formulate research strategies in quantitative proteomics.
